At Blurwise, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our service.

Email Handling

Your email address is collected only when you purchase a license, request a free trial or contact our support team. We use your email exclusively for:

  • Delivering your license or trial key
  • During a free trial, sending up to three emails with tips and a reminder before the trial ends — each one has a link to stop them
  • Providing technical support and assistance, including refund requests
  • Sending important updates about your license or account

We never sell your email or share it with anyone for their own purposes. It is handled on our behalf only by the providers we need to run the service — Stripe for payments, and our hosting and email-delivery providers. Apart from the trial emails described above, we do not use it for marketing or for any other reason beyond what is stated above. It is kept only as long as needed to provide these services and to meet our accounting and tax obligations.

The Windows App

Blurwise processes your videos and photos locally on your computer. They are never uploaded to our servers or to any third-party service, and no internet connection is needed to process them.

  • The app itself connects to the internet only to activate, deactivate or release a licence (see "License Information" below), and when you press "Check for updates". It never checks by itself. It contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry of its own.
  • Check for updates: the app asks blurwise.eu for the newest version, sending only the version number you have installed - no licence key, email, device identifier or anything about your files. No IP address is logged for this request; we keep only an anonymous count (the date and that version number). Whether your licence includes the new version is decided on your computer. If you choose to install it, the installer is downloaded from blurwise.eu like any download from this site, and the app runs it only after Windows confirms it carries our digital signature.
  • Graphics card: when "Use the graphics card (GPU)" is on (the default), the app uses components of Windows — Microsoft DirectML for face detection and Microsoft Media Foundation for video encoding. Under Microsoft's own terms, these components may collect technical information about their use (for example the type of graphics card and any errors), which Windows may send to Microsoft according to your Windows diagnostic data settings. We do not receive this information and have no control over it; Microsoft describes it at aka.ms/privacy. If you prefer, turn the option off in the app (detection and encoding then run on the processor without these components) or set Windows diagnostic data to the minimum.
  • Your settings, your licence key and a diagnostic log are stored only in files on your computer. We have no access to them.

The Android App

The Blurwise Android app (eu.blurwise.android) is distinct from this website and handles data differently: it does not have permission to access the internet at all. This is enforced by Android — an app without that permission cannot open a network connection — and anyone can verify it by inspecting the app’s manifest. As a direct consequence:

  • Your photos and videos are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded anywhere. Original files are never modified, and exported images carry no EXIF metadata (no GPS location, device model, or capture date).
  • The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry, and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
  • There is no account, sign-in, or registration.
  • If you unlock Pro/Studio features with a Blurwise Windows licence key, that key is verified offline on your device and stored only on your device; it is never transmitted. The email it was issued to is shown masked within the app.

The app declares only local permissions — a foreground service, so a long video keeps processing when the app is in the background, and notifications, to tell you when it has finished — none of which can access the network or read arbitrary files. The Android app itself therefore collects and shares no personal data. If you install it from Google Play, Google handles the download under its own terms, and Google Play may give us aggregate statistics such as install counts, plus crash reports from users who have allowed their phone to share them with Google.

Cookies & Tracking

This website (blurwise.eu) uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) only to measure site usage and advertising performance — never to track use of the desktop app, which processes video 100% locally and offline. Nothing beyond what is strictly necessary is set until you make a choice in the cookie banner, and you can change that choice at any time (see "Manage cookie preferences" below). We use three categories:

  • Necessary — a local storage entry that remembers your cookie choice for one year, so we don't ask again on every visit. Not shared with anyone.
  • Statistics — Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), with IP anonymization enabled. Sets the cookies "_ga" and "_ga_*", retained by Google for up to 14 months (Google Analytics' standard maximum retention setting) before automatic deletion.
  • Marketing — Google Ads conversion tracking (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), which measures purchases resulting from our ad campaigns via a single conversion event fired on the order-confirmation page. Sets the cookie "_gcl_au" and related Google Ads cookies, with a standard lifespan of up to 90 days.

These tags are deployed through Google Tag Manager, a tag-management service that itself sets no cookies and only loads the services above according to your consent choice. Google Consent Mode is active: until you consent, the Google tags set no cookies and send Google only anonymous, cookie-free signals (for example that a page was viewed), with no identifiers that could recognise you, which Google uses in aggregate to estimate site statistics and ad performance. Both analytics and advertising services are provided by Google. Where your data is processed outside the EU (Google LLC, United States), the transfer relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Google itself handles this data. You can accept, reject, or customize which categories are active at any time from the cookie banner, or via "Manage cookie preferences" below.

License Information

When you purchase a license, we store your email and a cryptographically signed license key in our database. When you activate the Windows app, it sends our server the license key, an identifier of your computer (derived from your Windows installation and hashed with SHA-256 on your computer, so we never receive the original value) and your computer's name. Like any server, ours also sees the IP address a request comes from, which is used to protect the service against abuse and may appear in its technical logs. This information is used solely to deliver your license, apply its device limit and support your use of Blurwise.

Contact & Support

When you contact us through our support form, we collect your name, email, and message. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry and provide assistance. We do not share it with third parties, apart from the hosting and email providers that deliver it to us.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and keep your license key confidential.

Your Rights

The data controller is Luca Tardioli (Italy), reachable at support@blurwise.eu. You have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@blurwise.eu. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of the country where you live.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
